It Started With A Feeling - The Story Behind Piaggio Papi
People often ask us, "What exactly is Piaggio Papi?" It's a fair question, and honestly, we're still not sure there's a simple answer. Yes, it's a lovingly restored Italian Piaggio Ape. Yes, we love beautiful food, wine and any excuse to throw a party. But to us, Piaggio Papi has always been something much deeper than that.
It's a feeling.
The feeling of a long lunch that somehow turns into dinner. The sound of laughter as the sun begins to set. Music drifting through the air. Friends gathered around a table with nowhere else to be.
For us, Piaggio Papi was born during a season of becoming parents. As beautiful as that chapter has been, we found ourselves craving a creative outlet that belonged to just the two of us. Madison has spent years creating beautiful weddings and thoughtfully styled events. Cooper’s background has been in creative direction, building brands and telling stories. Piaggio Papi became the place where those two worlds met and it gave us an excuse to make art together again. To romanticise ordinary moments. To create beautiful experiences. To collaborate with incredible people. To dream a little bigger.
When we found this little 1978 Italian Piaggio Ape, we fell in love instantly. We imagined long lunches, late nights and celebrations filled with warmth and connection but of course, reality had other plans. Just six hours into the drive home from Melbourne, Our van (Papi’s transportation) broke down on the side of the highway. What followed was months of setbacks, two engines, countless mechanics, tow trucks, phone calls and moments where we questioned whether we'd ever get to share this dream.
Looking back now, we're almost grateful for it because Piaggio Papi was never really about the vehicle. It's about creating moments that bring people together. Moments that feel effortless, generous and full of life.
Whether it's an intimate wedding, a brand launch, an afternoon aperitivo or a table filled with people you love, our hope is always the same. That for a few hours, life slows down, strangers become friends, and the ordinary becomes something worth remembering.
Thank you for supporting our dream. We can't wait to share a little piece of our world with you and Papi.
With Love,
Madison & Cooper
